Nearly ten years ago, a close-knit circle of friends from Philadelphia
came together to form a musical group originally known as So Totally In
Love. Over time, the band underwent a transformation, both in name and
style, adopting the shorter moniker So Totally. This season marks a
significant milestone for the group as they prepare to unveil "Double
Your Relaxation," their inaugural album under the revitalized label Tiny
Engines.
Their premier track, "Distinct Star," introduces a
refreshing take on Philadelphia's unique variant of shoegaze, infusing
it with a pop sensibility. While it may not fit the traditional mold of
what's typically considered "radio-friendly," the track's blend of
catchy melodies and soft yet compelling distortion offers an appealingly
smooth listening experience. This may very well stem from the band
members' shared appreciation for Land Of Talk, an influence that
evidently shapes So Totally's knack for crafting accessible, indie tunes
with a pop edge.
